•Agencies return policemen to Force Headquaters

By Adetutu Folasade-Koyi and Molly Kilete, Abuja

Uncertainty now trails the fate of Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde as the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mr Solomon Arase may  withdraw policemen who have served more than five years with the agency.
Reports indicated that Arase has already written to Lamorde of his intent to remove the affected officers.
A police source, however, told to Daily Sun that the move may actually be targeted at Lamorde, “even though he is not directly affected now because his appointment as the EFCC boss is at the behest of the President and not the Police Service Commission (PSC) or even the force itself…”
Lamorde has reportedly spent 12 years at the EFCC.
Following the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Slolomon Arase’s order to withdraw policemen from some areas, a source named the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), among those already implementing the order.
The source said the Ararse’s directive was aimed “at injecting fresh personnel so that those who have spent more than five years there would not lose touch with their parent service.
