THE community to community ‘meet the people’ campaign tour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson was received by a jubilant crowd in five communities in Yenagoa local government area of the state.

The Chiefs and elders of Yenagoa, Ovom and Swali, Onopa and Amarata communities welcomed the campaign train of the PDP led by Dickson who was accompanied by his deputy, Rear Admiral John Gboribiogha Jonah, and top members of the Restoration Campaign Organisation.

Dickson in his address promised the people of the three communities that he would do more in terms of development and human empowerment if re-elected into office.

At the palace of the paramount ruler of Yenagoa, Dickson who disclosed that he has special affinity to Yenagoa expressed readiness to consolidate on his achievements in the community.

According to him, now is the time for the people of the community to identity with the PDP which has active members since 1999.

He urged them to reject the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva because based on his past antecedents, he does not mean well for the Ijaw nation.

Dickson who accused Sylva of violence, excessive borrowing and gross ineptitude while in office enjoined the people of Yenagoa community to join the ‘Operation Reject Sylva and APC’ and take the message home to the people.

He charged them not to be afraid of any form of intimidation as security would be provided on Election Day to allow them cast their votes and defend it.

On requests made by the community, Dickson promised to build a permanent paramount ruler’s place and donated N5million for the construction of the Yenagoa Town Hall.

In Swali, Dickson lamented the deplorable state of the road which, he said, the community does not deserve. He immediately awarded the construction of the Swali internal road and directed the Commissioner of Works, Mr Lawrence Ewrujakpor to perfect the contract papers.

Dickson also promised to send the Commissioner of Health to the community to assess the state of the uncompleted health centre and make recommendations to government.

At Ovom, based on the request by the paramount ruler, HRH M.A Simeon, he directed Ewrujakpor to initiate the process for the renovation of the stretch of road leading to the community.
