NO fewer than five people were killed and scores of vehicles set ablaze during a violent clash between two cult groups of Igbudu and Agbassa in Warri, Delta State.
Besides, 25 vehicles were destroyed by the rampaging youths while many people were injured during the bloody clash which paralysed socio-economic activities in Warri metropolis.
Investigations indicated that the two cult groups took up arms against each other following an alleged gruesome murder of an Agbassa youth by Igbudu youths.
Angered by the death of their son, embittered youths from Agbassa also launched an attack on Igbudu where two of their youths were felled by bullets.
However, Daily Sun gathered that there has been cold war between the youths of the two communities since the assassination of Mr. Bright Obodo, last Saturday. Obodo contested under Labour Party for Warri South Constituency I for the Delta State House of Assembly election in April.
The bloody clash was, however, brought under control by a combined team of Army and Police from A’ and B’ Division.
Property worth millions of naira were destroyed as the youths capitalised on the situation to vandalise stores and private residences to loot several valuables.
Meanwhile, security operatives have cordoned off all flash points to forestall further escalation of crisis even as scores of people have fled
